Interior design: Coolest office space ever!
Being an art student definitely gave me a clear idea on how to look and criticize things in a different way. I somehow developed and obviously use that, in the way I look clothes and designers' collections, judging and looking not just who designed it but also the material that designer incorporated, the taste level of the whole collection and the cohesiveness, those are just the things that I look to in a designer collection, same with looking at interiors. I always crave for newness and fresh ideas in interior design. Interiors that can inspire, motivate and learn something from it, just like this conceptual office space by Dutch design firm RAAF. The whole place at first look, looks like an obstacle course made of concrete blocks however, the number of professionals sprawled across or leaning against these blocks tapping away on their laptops suggests the real function of the space as an avant-garde reinterpretation of the modern working environment.
I know this isn't your usual office space because first of all, it doesn't have chairs!, only huge, well structured white blocks. Maybe this kind of office space will work well with creative art agencies, who just want to experience a different vibe in their offices, but aside from being different with other offices in the world. They aim to tackle the myriad health conditions and problems - including heart disease and diabetes - associated with sitting in the same position for eight or more hours everyday at a typical desk job, the forward-thinkers at RAAAF partnered with the University of Groningen to design the installation that encourages workers to change position several times throughout the day, each time making you put more pressure on your legs. While the installation remains a thought-provoking experiment, furniture makers have already started calling. Check it out for yourself at Amsterdam’s Looiersgracht 60 art gallery.
